What is the $2,000 reward? A scholarship or financial aid?

The $2,000 reward is part of our Summer 2024 incentive, which offers financial support to graduate students who enroll in summer courses. This reward may come from various sources, including financial aid or funds allocated from scholarships such as the Gateway Scholarship or Graduate Select Scholarship.

Who is eligible?

New and current master's and doctoral students are eligible. Students in graduate certificate programs are not eligible.

How many credit hours do I need to register for to qualify for the maximum funding of $2,000 during the Summer 2024?

To qualify for the maximum funding of $2,000 during the Summer 2024, you'll need to enroll in 6 credit hours. If you register for just 3 credit hours, you can still receive up to $1,000 in funding.

If I enroll in more than 6 credit hours during Summer 2024, can I receive additional funds?

No. The maximum funding available through the Summer 2024 is $2,000. If you register for more than 6 credit hours, you won't receive additional funds beyond the $2,000 cap.

Can the $2,000 reward be combined with any other UTRGV institutional scholarships or graduate assistantships?

No. The $2,000 cannot be combined with other UTRGV institutional scholarships or assistantships.

If I am a UTRGV employee, can I receive the $2,000 in addition to ETAP?

No, UTRGV employees cannot receive this reward in addition to the UTRGV Employee Tuition Assistance Program in the same semester.


Do I need to apply to receive the $2,000?

All graduate students need to do is enroll in 6 credit hours or 3 credits hours (for up to $1,000). If you have any issues enrolling for classes contact GradCentral at gradcentral@utrgv.edu.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring your Student ID (or driver's license) and Vaccine Card.


What if I got my 1st and 2nd dose somewhere else?

No problem! You can get your booster shot/3rd dose with UTRGV. Just bring your ID and Vaccine Card.


What if I got Johnson & Johnson?

According to the CDC’s latest recommendations, eligible individuals may now “mix and match” or choose which vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson) they receive as a booster dose. Please note that UT Health RGV is not currently administering the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. However, people aged 18+ who initially got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine can get a booster dose of either Pfizer or Moderna at least two months after their initial shot.


Mix and Match

According to CDC recommendations, individuals can mix and match  their booster shot/3rd dose.

If you received a vaccine other than Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson, you are eligible to receive your booster shot/3rd dose at a UT Health RGV vaccination site. Please bring your ID and Vaccine Card.

    NEW master's and doctoral students with clear admission are eligible. New students in graduate certificate programs are not eligible.

How many credit hours do I need to register for to qualify for the maximum funding of $2,000 during the Summer 2024?

    To qualify for the maximum funding of $2,000 during the Summer 2024, you'll need to enroll in 6 credit hours. Enrolling in a total of 6 credit hours across both Summer 1 and Summer 2 allows for receiving the maximum funding of $2,000. For example, you can register for 3 credit-hours in Summer 1 and receive $1,000, then take 3 credit-hours in Summer 2 to receive an additional $1,000, totaling $2,000.
