We know that the pandemic has caused unforeseen fiscal hardships. Do hours in graduate certificate programs count towards the 6-hour requirement?
Yes, enrollment in courses towards graduate certificate programs will be counted towards the six-hour enrollment requirement.
How is UTRGV able to do this?
We have been assessing the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic associated with moving all courses online and limiting on-campus operations, and have been developing plans to assist students in continuing their education in light of these changes and disruptions. The summer relief award program is a result of this ongoing assessment process. UTRGV is committed to helping you address the changes and disruptions related to how we must operate currently, and financially assist you if you choose to continue your progress toward your degree.
Are summer relief funds considered a loan?
No, any amount of summer relief funds awarded are considered to be a grant and do not need to be paid back to UTRGV.
    Zone 2 Parking Pass

Beginning August 3rd, eligible students may request this permit by logging in to the parking permit portal at www.utrgv.edu/myparking and selecting "ZONE 2 STUDENT REPOSITIONABLE / FALL 2020 ZONE 2 PARKING". Your parking permit will be mailed to your home address after your submitted request is processed. Note: A credit adjustment will be applied after you order your permit. Please allow 1-2 weeks to see this credit.

The Zone 2 parking permit is valid for the fiscal year (September1, 2020 through August 31, 2021).
What do I do if I need to be on campus in August but the Zone 2 parking permit isn’t effective until September 1st?
After you request your Zone 2 parking permit, you will receive an email with a link that you can print and use as a temporary permit. Print the temporary permit and display it on your dashboard if you need to come to campus before September 1st.
If I drop/withdraw from these courses, will I be able to keep the parking permit?
No, these Summer Relief benefits are for students who complete a total of 6 credit hours during the Summer.
Do I have to receive passing grades to receive the parking permit?
You must complete 6 credit hours, regardless of what grade is earned.
What if I don’t need the parking permit? What other incentives are there?
If you opt to not receive your Summer Relief Zone 2 parking permit, you are still eligible to receive $100 VBucks.
If I transfer hours to UTRGV this summer, will those transfer hours count towards the 6-hour completion requirement to receive the parking permit?

Why are Accelerated Online Program (“AOP”) students not eligible for the free parking pass if I live in the RGV?

If the campus is not fully open by fall, will we get something else to replace the parking pass and/or VBucks?
The campus does not have to be open for you to use your VBucks for online purchases at the Campus Stores. The Campus Stores offer textbooks, school supplies, UTRGV spirit merchandise and technology such as Apple products. Your online purchases will be shipped to you for FREE. In addition, the parking pass can be used later when campus reopens. It is valid from September 1, 2020 through August 31, 2021.

Zone 2 permit holders can park in Zone 2, Zone 1 and, after 5pm, in Zone 3. Click here for campus parking zones.
Can I give the parking permit to my friend who drives me to school?
Permits you have earned are not transferable by policy. Nothing, however, prevents you from giving your permit to someone else. Keep in mind that the vehicle’s license plate will be attached to the parking permit registered in your name. Therefore, you will be held responsible for any citations associated with the permit.
Do residents qualify for the free permit?
Yes, Residence Life will submit your statement of charges to parking services for the FY and this will determine your eligibility.

For additional parking questions please visit our Parking Services website for FAQ's or contact us at Parking@utrgv.edu.
