What is the Fall/Spring Relief Package?

For Fall 2020, enrolled students may be eligible to receive a $500 cash grant from CARES Act funds or other eligible institutional funds, as appropriate. UTRGV will match that assistance by providing up to $500 in tuition balance relief (not fees). Mandatory fees are statutorily mandated, and are not covered by UTRGV’s matching assistance. Undergraduate students (see “who is eligible”) who graduated from high school in or after May 2020 will receive $500 in tuition relief and free Zone 1 parking for the academic year, but by law are not immediately eligible for $500 cash grants.

For Spring 2021, the package provides a $250 cash grant to eligible students from CARES Act funds or other eligible institutional funds, as appropriate. This includes new students who began in Fall 2020. UTRGV will match that assistance by providing up to $250 in tuition balance relief (not fees). Mandatory fees are statutorily mandated, and are not covered by UTRGV’s matching assistance. Undergraduate students (see “who is eligible”) who graduated from high school in or after May 2020 will receive $250 in tuition relief and free Zone 1 parking for the academic year but by law are not immediately eligible for $250 cash grants.

The distribution of cash grants is based on fund availability per academic year and awarded first-come, first-served based on enrollment.
