While many institutions nationwide face declining enrollment, UTRGV has seen a remarkable increase of 5,000 students in just nine years. We have expanded access to high-quality education across the Rio Grande Valley, built a robust research enterprise, and improved healthcare while offering new opportunities in health professions.
It is no surprise that we have been named the No. 1 University in Texas by Washington Monthly — for the second consecutive year. Coupled with our record-breaking first-day enrollment and retention figures, these milestones underscore our relentless pursuit of excellence and the bright future that lies ahead for our university.

We attracted a larger pool of qualified applicants than ever before, with applications surging to 20,304 this fall, a 28% increase.
