Update the UTRGV Vaccine Portal with your booster shot/3rd dose and upload a photo of your vaccine card, and then you'll receive $100 (subject to payroll tax) or a swag pack. The $100 (subject to payroll tax) will be added to your payroll check, and processed based on your banking/check preferences on file.

Who's eligible?

The employee incentive program is available to all active non-student employees (any classification other than GRA, GTA, WS, and STU) who have a current assignment in the PeopleSoft HR System.

What do I need to do to receive $100 (subject to payroll tax) or a UTRGV Swag Pack?

1. Get your booster shot/3rd dose by April 8, 2022.

2. Update the UTRGV Vaccine Portal with your booster shot/3rd dose date 

3. Upload your vaccine card


What is the UTRGV Vaccine Portal?

The UTRGV Vaccine Portal is a voluntary, private, and secure website that was launched in 2021 to organize and record vaccination needs, preferences, and status in the UTRGV community.

The website can be accessed by clicking here and by entering your unique UTRGV username and password.

Why is it important to do this?

Your health, safety, and success are our biggest concerns! We're thanking you for doing your part in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Rest assured, we're maintaining the privacy of your individual answers, and what you tell us doesn’t affect your access to campus services. We'll be using the aggregated data (such as, a total percentage of who has been vaccinated, whether on or off campus) as we work to keep the campus community safe.

Where can I get the COVID-19 Booster?

There are several ways you can make a booster shot/3rd dose appointment: 

1. You can get your booster shot/3rd dose at UT Health RGV Employee Health locations.  You may request an appointment via the UTRGV Vaccine Portal or by calling UT Health RGV Employee Health locations directly.  Edinburg: (956) 296-1731   l    Harlingen:  (956) 296-1519 

2. You can also get your booster shot/3rd dose at one of our designated UT Health RGV sites listed below. For instructions on how to make an appointment at a UT Health RGV location, visit utrgv.edu/vaccine/.

3. Get your booster shot/3rd dose at another publicly designated location (examples: primary care clinical sites, pharmacies, or your local health department). 




This program is made possible by the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III), authorized in Section 2003(a)(1) of the American Rescue Plan, Public Law 117-2, effective March 11, 2021 (ARP). Under HEERF III and the ARP, institutions are required to implement evidence-based practices to monitor and suppress coronavirus in accordance with public health guidelines.

Who qualifies for the $100 (subject to payroll tax) or UTRGV Swag Pack incentive?

All UTRGV employees who:

1. Get booster shot/3rd dose by April 8, 2022; and

2. Update the UTRGV Vaccine Portal with booster shot/3rd dose date and upload a photo of the front and back of your vaccine card by April 8, 2022.

Is there a deadline for when I need to receive the booster shot/3rd dose?

Yes, you must receive your booster shot/3rd dose by April 8, 2022. The deadline to submit your booster shot/3rd dose information and vaccine card to the UTRGV Vaccine Portal is April 8, 2022.

If I am getting my first or second vaccine dose, do I qualify?

No, the $100 (subject to payroll tax) or UTRGV Swag Pack incentive is only applicable for your COVID-19 booster shot/3rd dose.

If I am a UTRGV employee and a UTRGV student, can I receive both booster incentives?

No, you can only receive the booster incentive once. You will automatically receive the UTRGV student $100.

When will I receive my $100 (subject to payroll tax)?

  • February 15, the payment will be included in your March paycheck 
  • March 15, the payment will be included in your April paycheck 
  • April 8 (the incentive deadline), the payment will be included in your May paycheck

When will I receive my UTRGV Swag Pack?

You'll receive an email from aux@UTRGV.edu, letting you know when your swag pack is available for pick-up or its estimated time of delivery.

What does it mean that the $100 is subject to payroll tax?

If you choose to receive the $100 (subject to payroll tax) incentive; you will receive the net, after the applicable federal employment tax withholding.

The $100 (subject to payroll tax) will be added to your payroll check, and processed based on your banking/check preferences on file.

How can I validate that I received my $100?

On your pay stubs you will see a line item described “employee award.” If you submitted proof of vaccination prior to the February, March, and April deadlines and did not receive payment on the payroll date following the deadline, please reach out to the HR or Payroll offices for clarification (hr@utrgv.edu or payroll@utrgv.edu).

Can I go back and change my incentive option?

Due to processing deadlines, once you have chosen an incentive option you will not be able to change your selection. Please choose carefully.

Where do I submit proof of my COVID-19 booster shot/3rd dose?

In your UTRGV Vaccine Portal.

An image of your vaccination card can be uploaded as one of the following file types: png, svg, jpg, or jpeg.

Uploading your vaccination card is part of the eligibility requirements for this incentive and will not be used for any other purpose, and will remain private.

What if I can’t find my vaccine card?

If you received your initial two doses at a UT Health RGV site, please submit your information for a replacement card at https://uthealthrgv.org/card-replacement/.

If you received your dose/s at a different location, and were given a card there, please contact the Texas Department of State Health Services to find out how you can get a replacement card.

Why do you need my vaccine card?

The voluntary uploading of your vaccine card will only be used to verify your eligibility for this incentive. It will not be stored as part of your student record, nor will it be used to grant or prohibit access to UTRGV services. Once we verify your eligibility and you receive your funds, your uploaded vaccine card will be deleted from the portal.

UTRGV Swag Pack option

Employees will have the option to:

1. pick up their swag pack at either the Brownsville or Edinburg Campus Stores

2. have their swag pack shipped to their home address

Both in-person pick up or shipping options are available at no cost to employees.
