The Bachelor of Science in Early Care & Early Childhood Studies Non-Certification, BS ECECS is a 100% online competency-based program. Competency-Based Education (CBE) programs enable students to earn college credit by demonstrating mastery of clearly defined skills known as “competencies.” Students work with the program’s Faculty Advisor who ensures that students have obtained the knowledge and skills necessary to enter the workplace. Throughout the program, students meet (virtually) with the CBE Faculty Advisor, who will guide their progress through their coursework and help to maintain the pace of their work. It is an attractive option for Adult learners who bring to their learning life experience and practical knowledge that can help them quickly advance through a CBE course. Our CBE courses are offered in a 100% online format. This helps greatly for working adults to seamlessly fit their coursework into their already-busy schedules.

The TAB grant BS ECECS does not lead to teacher certification. However, students interested in pursuing a teacher certification upon graduation will require to follow one of many Alternate Teacher certification routes recommended by the Texas Education Agency.
