Vaquero Band Camp
Join our inaugural
Vaquero Band Camp
Intermediate to advanced drill team and/or dance experience.
Good time management skills and commitment to attend three rehearsals each week, as well as game day and event attendance on and off campus.
Must be in good standing with the university and maintain a minimum term and institutional GPA of 2.25.
Undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester credit hours. Graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 semester credit hours.
Incoming freshmen or transfer students must apply and enroll in UTRGV by a deadline determined by the Spirit Program head coach.

Price includes 5-day camp + daily lunch.
Students must bring their instruments. Percussion should bring sticks and mallets.
Students are responsible for arranging transportation.

MEET OUR BAND DIRECTOR!
Ronnie Rios, a Grammy-Nominated Music Educator from Alice, Texas, boasts over 25 years of experience in music education. Holding degrees in Music Education, he's now the Director of Athletic Bands at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and serves on the Texas Bandmasters Association Board of Directors.
Throughout his career, he's led bands to numerous awards, including Texas State Marching Band Championships and Bands of America titles. His ensembles have performed across the U.S. and shared stages with renowned artists like Wynton Marsalis and Arturo Sandoval.
Recognized for his excellence, Rios has received accolades such as the Texas Bandmasters Association "Meritorious Achievement Award." He remains dedicated to music education as the Artistic Director of the Rio Grande Valley Jazz Orchestra and through his involvement in various music associations.
