We are doing more than ever to ensure that nothing gets between you and your educational goals by expanding student support programs and resources currently available to assist you across all aspects of your university experience. Here, you'll find information that will help connect you with academic support, financial assistance, career and employment opportunities, health and wellness resources, and technical support.

Mentors encourage and support students in making academic and social connections that help them acquire skills to be successful at UTRGV through two mentoring programs: JumpStart (occurs during summer) and Engaging Peers in College (occurs fall and spring).

Student Health Services

A wide variety of health services including FREE office visits for general medical care. While some services and procedures used to diagnose and treat illnesses may be subject to charges, overall costs are much lower than comparable services provided elsewhere. For your convenience, all charges for services can be posted to your student account.

Student Assistance Program

Feeling overwhelmed? You're not alone. The UTRGV Student Assistance Program is available to assist you with any issues that affect your overall sense of wellbeing and successful completion of your degree.

The Office for Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention works with students, staff, and faculty, and community partners to strive for a campus free from gender-based and interpersonal violence and to facilitate services for victims and survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and interpersonal violence.

The Center for Diversity and Inclusion supports culturally-based affinity groups, enhance programming that builds cultural competence and civil discourse, and provide direct support to students and the DREAM Resource Center provides support services and resources for undocumented and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students.

Our top priority is to keep you safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Be assured that our priority in every decision we make will always be the health and safety of our students, our campus community, and the communities we serve. After that, we want to ensure this pandemic doesn’t negatively impact your progress toward obtaining your degree. We are prioritizing your safety while remaining focused on supporting your educational goals.

Course offerings and modalities for this Spring semester have been developed by our deans and faculty in consultation with our health, medicine, and safety experts, following the guidelines established by our Return to Campus Task Force - which provides the framework for safe and healthy operations.

We all recognize that the situation with COVID-19 is highly fluid, and we will continue to monitor the pandemic and make any necessary adjustments as we move forward together. We are working as fast as we can to provide all the information our students will need to make sound decisions for themselves, to be successful, and above all, to be safe. This website is updated frequently with additional information and resources, so please refer back to it as needed.

Remember, we have no measure of success other than your success. Your progress toward your degree is crucial, and your health and safety are paramount.

To maintain the health and safety of our on-campus community, we are asking that all students, faculty, staff and campus visitors adhere to the following screening questions based on CDC guidelines pertaining to COVID-19 (coronavirus) transmission.

Have you been in close contact (within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more) of anyone with a confirmed COVID-19 case in the last 14 days?

Do you have a measured temperature greater than 100.0°F, or feelings of fever or chills?

Do you have a new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat, muscle pain or body aches, nausea, vomiting, headache, loss of taste or smell, or diarrhea?

If you answer YES to any of the questions listed, 

you are not allowed to be on campus.

Faculty/Staff/Students should instead, 

fill out the Preliminary COVID-19 Screening Form

Employees who become symptomatic should follow these steps:

• Do not access any UTRGV campus/off campus facilities.
  
• Communicate with your supervisor.
• Fill out the Preliminary COVID-19 Screening Form, located here. 

Do not call Employee Health for COVID-19 appointments.

• Your completed Preliminary COVID-19 Screening Form will be sent to and reviewed by a member of the COVID-19 Response Team.
• Based on the results, you will be contacted to determine the appropriate plan of action and told to either quarantine, isolate, test now or in the future, or return to work.
• Employees may not return to work until they are released by a member of the COVID-19 Response Team. 

If you are determined to need a test:

1. Your information will be reviewed, and a member of the COVID-19 Response Team will reach out to you to provide further guidance. 
2. Employees may not return to work until they are released by a member of the COVID-19 Response Team. 

If you test positive for the virus:

• You must continue isolation. 
• You will get a call from the UT Health RGV clinical team confirming your positive results.
• Contact your Primary Care Provider immediately for continued care.
• You might be contacted by the State Department to identify any contacts you have had. 
• If you have trouble breathing, chest pain, etc. go directly to the ER.

Any individual testing positive must self-isolate and will not be permitted to return to in-person activities until:

• 10 days have passed since their first positive test
• Are symptom-free for 3 days without fever
• Have 2 negative COVID-19 tests, 24 hours apart
• Are cleared for return by UT Health RGV personnel
  

Contact tracing of all positive individuals will be conducted by UT Health RGV personnel.

If you test negative for the virus:

• You must still quarantine until 14 days have passed.
• Contact your Primary Care Provider for continued care, especially if any symptoms arise.
